Service

Each year, MOPS of New Hope partners with various charities and focuses all of our service and fundraising efforts toward helping those charities.  Serving others is something we are all capable of doing no matter how much time or money we have. We hope you take a little time out of your busy schedule to find a way to serve others that best suits you and your family.

This year, MOPS of New Hope is pleased to be partnering with one of New Hope Presbyterian’s missions: Verity Center, Heights Foundation – Bountiful Blessings Thanksgiving Outreach, and Operation Christmas Child.

Verity Pregnancy & Medical Resource Center

MOPS of New Hope will be having 2 MOPS SWAP this year to raise money for the Verity Center. Verity is a Christ-centered Pregnancy and Medical Resource Center founded to care for women and their families who find themselves in an unplanned pregnancy. Services include pregnancy tests, limited ultrasounds, confidential peer counseling, referral services and post-abortion support.

MOPS Swap Verity Fundraiser

At our twice-a-year MOPS Swap, moms bring in gently-used baby items (baby/kid/maternity clothes, small toys, books) for sale with ALL proceeds going to charity. Unfortunately, we do not have a space to store items until the swap, so they must be brought in that day. This year all proceeds will go to this year’s service partner, Verity Pregnancy & Medical Resource Center.

Heights Foundation – Bountiful Blessings Thanksgiving Outreach

For over 10 years, the Heights Foundation has worked to promote education, opportunity, and access to resources in the Harlem Heights neighborhood… and it all started with a Thanksgiving food basket.

In 1999 they delivered 50 baskets.  This year they will reach out to almost 400 families. Our donation of Jiffy corn muffin boxes will bring food and encouragement to struggling families in our community. With support from MOPS, the Heights Foundation will reach more families with a message of hope and peace.

MOPS is working to collect 350 boxes of cornbread mix for “Bountiful Blessings” in Harlem Heights!

Operation Christmas Child** (OCC)

The mission of Operation Christmas Child is to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to needy children around the world, and together with the local church worldwide, to share the Good News of Jesus Christ.

MOPS continues our annual tradition of providing donations of kid-friendly items that will fit into a shoebox. The age groups are as follows: 2-4 yrs, 5-9 yrs, 10-14 yrs. It is easier to find goodies for the younger kids, so  keep an extra-special lookout for items that may appeal to the older kids, so they too may have a full shoebox! Our goal is to stuff dozens of shoeboxes to the brim to send to underprivileged boys and girls around the world, sharing God’s love at Christmas time.

Examples of shoebox fillers include the following new and unused items:

School Supplies: pens, pencils and sharpeners, crayons or markers, stamps and ink pad sets, writing pads or paper, solar calculators, coloring and picture books, etc.

Toys: small cars, balls, dolls, stuffed animals, kazoos, harmonicas, yo-yos, jump ropes, small Etch-A-Sketch, toys that light up or make noise (and extra batteries), slinky, etc.

Personal Hygiene: toothbrush, toothpaste, mild bar soap (in a plastic bag), comb, washcloth, etc.

Clothing: T-shirts, socks, ball caps, sunglasses, hair clips, toy jewelry, watches, flashlights (with extra batteries).

**DO NOT INCLUDE: used or damaged items, war-related items such as toy guns, knives or military figures; chocolate or food, expired candy, liquids or lotions; medications or vitamins, aerosol cans, breakable items such as snow globes or glass containers.
